Maria Andrea Murchie, MD, is board certified in family medicine. Dr. Murchie earned her medical degree from Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. She completed her fellowship through USC at the California Hospital Medical Center in Women's Health. She completed her internship and residency at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. Dr. Murchie became a doctor because it combined her passion for science and her desire to be of service to others while also being a role model in her community. As a Latina, she wants to reduce the barriers to excellent health care. Dr. Murchie is compassionate, reassuring, and flexible. She emphasizes the importance of shared decision-making and often asks patients what style they prefer when it comes to receiving care and exploring treatment options. She believes the best doctors pay attention to not only the words of their patients but also to their body language. When she's not caring for her patients, Dr. Murchie cherishes time with her husband and their fur baby, aka. their dog. The simple activities that bring her joy include daily walks, Bikram yoga, studying, and coaching future doctors. Dr. Murchie speaks fluent Spanish.
